Edgar Osuna is a 22 year old lefty comes to the Royals from the Atlanta Braves via a rule 5 pick up. He looks to join his fellow countrymen in Joakim Soria in the 2010 KC bullpen. The Royals do not have a real proven list of LH relievers to compete for the LH job out of the pen so it looks like Osuna will stick.
He throws a fastball that sits in the upper 8′s and has a very good change up. (a pitch that BA said was the best in the ATL system after the 2008 season) The thing that sticks out to me the most is that he throws strikes and as a rookie reliever that will be important in his quest to stay on the roster all season.
A peer in Atlanta said ” not surprised that he was selected. Especially by Dayton. He has good stuff and profiled as a pen arm for Atlanta. He was used as a starter for the most part.”

A 4.15 SO/BB ratio is absolutely tremendous. His 8.3 SO/9 is not too shabby either. Really excited to what he can do.
Jeff-
I can easily see why so many people had him higher…and with guys that are unproven coming up on my list I expect debate…but, I am a ceiling guy and my ceiling for him right now is a fringe LH RP…although this change up is a pitch I really look forward to seeing.
